BASKAR DENTAL FOUNDATION,
a non-profit, charitable organization
has been founded on 30 November 1994,
by Dr.P.K.Baskar, who is a Professor Emeritus
and Renowned Dental Professional with
48 years of valuable service to serve
the economically weaker section of the
community irrespective of caste, creed,
religion, gender.
The activities of this foundation was
started with active support of the community,
well-wishers, doctors and paramedical
staff attached to the foundation and Sri
Viveka Institute of Dental Health, Chennai.
A large number of Noble personalities
and Institutions have been helping the
foundation.
The foundation creates awareness and
educating the people on prevention of
dental diseases which is often painless
in the early stages. It emphasises the
role of food in the prevention and treatment
of dental diseases.
It conducts periodical Free
Dental camps to promote Dental
Health in the community. Particularly
to identify dental diseases at the early
stage thus preventing other complications
like cardio vascular diseases, diabetes,
stroke, alziemers, pre mature delivery,
low birth weight etc.,which may be associated
with chronic dental disease.
The foundation has conducted more than
4600 camps and the total
beneficiaries are over 4,64,000.
It is aiming at conducting at least 20
camps in a month and 240 in a year. Besides
it is also planning to create new infrastructure
for free treatment for under privileged
in a designated place. It will also create
a training center to train the trainers
to enhance and escalate the services as
early and as much as possible.
As no charitable work can be
sustained without support of more like
minded and noble people , it seeks more
benevolent people’s involvement in this
noble cause physically, emotionally and
monetarily in the activities of the Foundation
with their benevolent contributions in
the larger interest of the community and
the down trodden in particular.
How one can participate
?
The Baskar Dental Foundation conducts
free Dental camps in Educational institutions,
Senior citizen’s homes, Orphanages, institutions
helping the mentally challenged and visually
handicapped and other needy sections in
the community.
Each such camp costs Rs 5000/-
. This cost includes a thorough
Dental check up, Report on Dental health
status, distribution of tooth brush, tooth
powder to each individual and other medicines
required such as calcium and anti biotics
etc based on the requirement. Also distribution
of leaflets which can educate and guide
on food habits.
You may support the foundation
by the following:
1. Sponsor a Camp:
As a novel way of celebrating your birthday,
Wedding Anniversary or any other event
in your family you can sponsor a camp
or any number as you wish.
2. Corporate Social Responsibilty
: Under CSR ,the Corporates and major
institutions can sponsor the camps for
even a full month for 20 camps in a month
or in multiples. This can be even termed
as “month of Camps” in the Corporate’s
name in a year. The corporates who want
to sponsor less number of camps can also
think about sponsoring a week or fortnight
in a year.
3. Donation to Corpus fund
: You may also consider donating for the
corpus towards the objectives of the Foundation
as the foundation is planning to create
it’s own infrastructure facilities to
give free dental check ups at it’s premises.
The contributions made to the Foundation
are exempted under Sec. 80G of Income
Tax Act by Govt. of India.
